Strategic consulting

Someone to talk a decision through with before you make it. Regularly – not once a year at a workshop.

  • Twice a month, not twice a year at a workshop
  • You set the agenda – bring what you're dealing with and we'll work through it
  • Fractional CMO – when you need leadership, not advice

30 minutes online, free. We don't start with consulting – first we look at where your business stands.

A meeting of several people at a round table in a bright office – David Zelenka

You do marketing, but there's no one to talk it through with

You have a marketer or an agency, campaigns are running, content goes out. What's missing is the moment when someone sits down and asks whether it all adds up.

It's typically needed in companies where:

  • marketing is done by one capable person with nobody to bounce ideas off,
  • there are several vendors and nobody holds the whole picture,
  • the owner makes the marketing decisions, but it's not their field – and they know it.

This isn't about me doing your marketing. It's about not being alone when you make decisions.

Twice a month, not twice a year

How it works

We meet regularly

Typically twice a month, online or in person. In between, I'm available for things that can't wait.

You set the agenda

I don't show up with a presentation. You bring what you're dealing with – next quarter's budget, a proposal from an agency, a new product, a new hire – and we talk it through.

I keep the continuity

I remember what we discussed 3 months ago and why we decided the way we did. Most companies don't have that memory, so they make the same decisions over and over.

Sometimes I bring up things you didn't ask about

If I see something going off track, I'll say so, even when it's not on the agenda.

When you need leadership

A fractional CMO is the bigger version of the same thing: I take responsibility for the direction of your marketing and lead your people or vendors.

It makes sense when you have a team or a budget, but nobody to lead it. Always with a date by which I should no longer be needed.

Talk about a fractional CMO
“David is creative, direct, strategic, and very much his own person. He's a real pleasure to communicate with, mainly because he always tells you the uncomfortable truth too – and that moves people and projects forward.”

Frequently asked questions

  • How long do we commit to consulting for?

By default, I work quarter by quarter, but we always set it up so it makes sense for both sides.
  • What if something's on fire between meetings?

Email or call me. I don't bill for small things; anything bigger we agree on separately – always in advance, never as a surprise on the invoice.
  • What's the difference between consulting and a fractional CMO?

Consulting is thinking out loud about your decisions. As a fractional CMO, I lead your marketing – I'm responsible for it, I manage the vendors, and I'm in the meetings. It's a different scope and a different price.
  • Do we need a finished strategy before consulting?

No, but without one the first meetings take longer – we'd be spelling out the things a strategy answers. That's why most engagements start with a plan.
  • How much does strategic consulting cost?

It depends on the scope and frequency. My base rate is €100/hour; for ongoing work, we agree on a flat monthly fee. You get a quote up front.

Let's try one meeting

30 minutes, no strings attached. You'll see whether this kind of thinking out loud works for you – and if it doesn't, that's fine.
